Pedals: VRS DirectForce Pro Pedals
Available from VRS - 5% Off Link (Affiliate Link)
VRS's DirectForce Pro Pedals have been around for some time, and over the years I've noticed their quietly confident reputation spread by word of mouth. Now, having used them and loved them, I completely understand. Infinitely smooth and incredibly unfiltered, these are my top pedal pick. 3 Year Warranty is also appealing. Honorable Mention: Asetek Invicta Pedals. Invictas were also a firm favourite of mine, but they're more expensive and narrow-minded in their approach.
Wheelbase: VRS DirectForce Pro Wheelbase (DFP20)
Available from VRS - 5% Off Link (Affiliate Link)
VRS's current wheelbase comes across as really underrated, but it's been my favourite wheelbase of all I've tried, for numerous reasons. The feedback is strong and extremely agile, easily matching and possibly even pipping the Asetek Invicta in terms of feel. The hardware itself is robustly built due to its industrial roots, and yet it's cheaper than many of it's rivals with a long 3 year warranty, which is a major factor in my decision to place this wheelbase as my top pick right now. The external control box and extremely thick power and data cables appear inelegant from afar, but are extremely reassuring when installed on the rig. Honorable Mention: Asetek La Prima. A very plucky and punchy base that seemed stronger and more agile than its 12nm rating.
Steering Wheel: Simagic GT Neo
Available from Race Anywhere (UK) - Link (Affiliate Link)
Available from Apex Sim Racing (US) - Link (Affiliate Link)
Although I'm currently using the VRS DirectForce Pro Formula Wheel, the Simagic GT Neo was the standout of my recent reviews, simply due to it's amazing value for money at £300. Fully lit buttons and dials, dual clutch paddles, interchangeable QR, excellent shape and form. There are drawbacks: the grips aren't cushioned, so you'll probably need gloves with anything over 10nm of force feedback, and the warranty is only 1 year long so it may prove to be slightly perishable over time. However, it's still an excellent value do-everything GT/Formula wheel. Honorable Mention: VRS DirectForce Pro Formula Wheel Lite. If you need something with much better grips and a much longer warranty, but you don't need half the buttons, the VRS Lite wheel is exactly that.
Cockpit: GT Omega PRIME
Available from GT Omega - 5% Off with code DANNYLEE (Affiliate Link)
My main cockpit since 2021 from scottish-based company GT Omega. One of the best value full-fat aluminium rigs around. Currently using with a GT Omega INERTIA bucket seat in black. Honorable Mention: GT Omega Titan. A much simpler, skinnier tubular cockpit for less demanding setups, but still plenty strong with a good pedal deck and an easily upgradeable wheel deck for added strength.
